DE-WASI has recently started using additional wooden transport boxes in the shuttle warehouse.The high-quality boxes made of birch wood were designed to fit the existing system precisely and with optimized weight, and also have great advantages for fire protection. In the event of a fire, they can be extinguished better than plastic boxes, which melt in a fire.

The wooden boxes are produced by the Lebenshilfe joinery in Wuppertal. DE-WASI is proud of the valuable work done there by people with disabilities. This supports an important regional project of Lebenshilfe: Strengthening people's participation and self-determination in social and professional life. At the same time, DE-WASI can use wood as a more sustainable resource instead of plastic.
